Dr. Kezar received his B.A. (1975) and Ph.D. (1981) in chemistry from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. Following a two year postdoctoral fellowship with Prof. J.D. White at Oregon State University he began working at the DuPont Company. His industrial experience includes ten years with DuPont and DuPont Merck Pharmaceutical Company as well as two years at BioCryst Pharmaceutical Company. Dr. Kezar has a broad synthetic background, from milligram to kilogram quantities including use of up to 50L reaction vessels. Therapeutic areas include antibacterial, CNS, cardiovascular, cancer and antiviral.
At Southern Research Dr. Kezar has been the lead bench chemist on projects ranging from commercial drug discovery projects to preparative scale synthesis for government contracts. He has also been responsible for the acquisition, operating, and maintaining of a Shimadzu preparative HPLC setup along with a CEM microwave synthesizer.
