Materials Manufacturing Process Development

Materials Manufacturing Process Development

Southern Research provides comprehensive testing and evaluation capabilities to support our clients' efforts during the early phase of materials manufacturing development and throughout the manufacturing process. We offer state-of-the-art equipment and facilities for the design and execution of laboratory-scale experiments for performance validation under a variety of process conditions. Southern Research utilizes high-temperature and press capabilities, in addition to furnaces and load frames, to conduct process simulation experiments. Moreover, we offer experienced manufacturing consultants to provide real-world solutions during any phase of the manufacturing process. As such, our clients benefit from an in-depth understanding of the manufacturing process and the most effective methods for process optimization.

Design of Experiments

Southern Research offers extensive expertise in the design and execution of laboratory-scale experiments for materials performance validation under a variety of process conditions. We utilize Taguchi methods and design for six sigma elements to reduce product variability through statistical measurement of process parameters and resulting product performance.

Manufacturing Consultants

Our in-depth knowledge of composite materials and refractory metals - in addition to comprehensive testing and process simulations capabilities - enables us to serve as an ideal partner for manufacturing process development. Southern Research can assist with providing real-world solutions during the manufacturing process as well as determining the most effective methods for process optimization.

Materials Replacement Program

Southern Research offers a comprehensive program focused on assisting clients with the replacement of materials that have become obsolete due to supplier problems, design issues, or changes in the manufacturing process. Our in-depth knowledge of current and prior state-of-the-art composite materials and refractory metals - as well as the manufacturing base and user community - enables us to effectively analyze the impact of a change in materials, develop programs to demonstrate equivalence to prior materials, and evaluate the product capability and performance of a newly developed material.
